Vberth Storage
The mattresses are remove here to
show the structure underneath. The two hatches are open. There are two
hatches so that only one mattress has to be lifted in order to gain
access to the compartment. You can also see the plywood bulkhead and
the 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" wooden rim around the opening. The plywood bulkhead
supports the vberth and holds the foam forward of it. (the 88 has foam
under the front bunk) (89 on boats have the foam up at deck level) The
bulkhead is fastened to the frame of the hole. The red item in the
picture is a spare 3 1/2 gal gas can. This sits on a shelf in the
compartment.
In this picture you can see the
screws every 6" that hold the wood frame to the fiberglass. You can
also see the plastic bin that keeps things dry.The bin is 16 by 22 1/2
and 12 " high. The hole that was cut in the fiberglass was 16 1/2 by
45 1/2. The wood was notched so that the 1/2' plywood covers would
fit flush with the bunk. ![]() |
